Puako is a beautiful oceanfront community situated between the Mauna Lani Resort and Mauna Kea Resort. Puako consists of approximately 160 lots with half of them situated on either side of the road that runs along the coast for approximately 3 miles from Waialea Bay on the north to Paniau on the south. Puako and Waialea are the only oceanfront communities on the Kohala Coast that are not a part of a resort and not subject to restrictions and gates. The quaint beach town atmosphere of each neighborhood makes both an appealing option for many who love and cherish these communities.
Puako Community Association is a very active group and their love for their land and ocean shows through their organization and productivity. Find out more about this group at www.puako.org and if you are interested, find out more about their work with The Nature Conservancy and Department of Lands and Natural Resources where the Puako Makai Watch program was created. This program allows interested community members the opportunity to help monitor and manage Puako’s marine resources. Some of the best snorkeling and diving can be done along this part of the coastline.
The real estate options for Puako are varied from unbuilt lots to a combination of beach shack homes and gorgeous estates on the water. Waialea properties rarely become available for sale.
